God, thank you for this art history exam, though I am really unprepared.... I guess the right attitude is to rejoice in you (: I wanna share this with you all, the image by Matthias Grunewald -crucifixion. He is someone who in his life, dedicated himself to portraying crucifixion, and he is a believer. I believe that indeed, his works are sermons of the heart. Christ is the sacrifice, and our Saviour.
This is placed in a hospital to give the patients who are suffering from skin diseases, comfort, it helps them to understand Christ suffered... and he can understand their pain..
lamb of God... yet.. John the Baptist appears in the picture, saying " He must increase, and I decrease". He was beheaded before the crucifixion, I think he wants to show the timelessness of Christ? whereby Christ transcends time.
